Washington (June 4, 2024) — Sam Houston State University (SHSU) has become a Supporting Partner with the Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) Fellowship.
As a Supporting Partner, SHSU identifies three master’s degree programs and three bachelor’s degree programs eligible for the FAIT Fellowship. SHSU waives the application fees for these degree programs.
FAIT Fellows in the graduate fellowship program are eligible to enroll in the following four-semester (fall and spring), full-time master’s degree programs offered by SHSU:
- Master of Science in Computing and Data Science
- Master of Science in Digital Forensics (online program)
- Master of Science in Information Assurance & Cybersecurity (online program)
These bachelor’s degree programs are eligible for the undergraduate FAIT Fellowship program:
- Bachelor of Science in Computing Science
- Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering
- Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity
Students must be enrolled full-time and be on a timeline to graduate after completing four full-time semesters (fall and spring) during their two-year fellowship.

Funded by the Department of State and administered by The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars (TWC), the FAIT Fellowship is a unique diversity recruitment program that provides academic funding while preparing fellows to enter the Foreign Service as Diplomatic Technology Officers. The FAIT Fellowship provides:
- Up to $43,500 annually (for two years) in academic funding for tuition, room and board, books, mandatory fees and some travel expenses (see eligibility requirements).
- Stipends, housing and travel allowances for the two summer internships: A domestic internship in Washington, D.C., at the U.S. Department of State and an overseas internship at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
- Personalized mentoring and professional development opportunities throughout the program.
Upon successful completion of the fellowship program and Foreign Service entry requirements, FAIT Fellows receive an appointment as a Diplomatic Technology Officer in the Foreign Service.
